Once a Pampered Hollywood Girl, Now She’s Saying Yes to God!

Love Skip Jump

I was out one night with my hubby and got a message from a friend explaining she had left something for me on my porch. I love porch surprises! They are the best!

At the end of a good but long day, we pulled into the driveway and I B-lined it to the porch to see what awaited me. I found a yellow book titled Love, Skip, Jump by Shelene Bryan, and tucked inside was a kind note from my friend, Christine. It made my night. I couldn’t believe what a kind and thoughtful gesture it was. Christine is the wife of my husband’s admired high school football coach. He was his all time favorite coach. He compares him to Vince Lombardi.  He was one of those coaches that taught him a lot more than just about the game of football. He taught him about life, hard work, and grit. My husband still talks about him and the things he learned from this great man. Coach M. and my hubby go way back, but on the contrary, Christine and I have only seen each other a couple times. Yet she still took the time to leave this thoughtful surprise for me, and I’m so glad she did! I feel like God sent her on the errand to drop it off at my house, and she listened! Shelene would be proud!

Love, Skip, Jump is a new favorite of mine! It’s an easy read and so inspiring. Shelene shares experiences she’s had with saying “YES!” to God. She shares how her life took a 180. She was once a pampered Hollywood girl, now she’s saying yes to God! In the forward, Shalene’s dear friend describes her transformation, “She was loud, materialistic, self-centered…you get the picture. Little did I know that God was going to transform her into a humble, generous, godly woman.”

This book inspires you to be better, without discouraging you for not doing enough. Another reason I loved this book was because it seemed like she was explaining the last 2 years of my own life. My experiences have been different than hers, but I have received the same convictions that she has, I have the same passions that she has, and I believe in saying YES to God like she does! I want to tell you more, but I don’t want to spoil it for you! It’s definitely a must read!

I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe that God orchestrates each day of our lives, down to the simplest thing of an acquaintance friend dropping a book off at my door. The more we recognize God, the more we will see Him in our lives…and if we are looking for Him in our lives, we won’t be able to deny all the little tender mercies he throws in our path to get us to where He wanted us to be.

Shelene’s story is incredible and that’s all her book is, her story. An incredible, adventurous, faith-filled story. One I plan to read and reread again!
